Beechner
Field is currently being renovated to provide
a second all-weather outdoor surface for Lincoln's football
and soccer teams as well as LHS Physical Education classes.
The first step is site preparation and removal of the
old grass surface and pole vault / long jump runways.

G which has been barricaded since the renovation of the
old "PSAB" building into LHS South Building
is being removed and will be the new home for long jump,
triple jump, and pole vault. View is looking toward the

July 25, 2003 finds the first layer of the surface
being placed on the ground. Following this will
be a layer of crushed rock to facilitate drainage. |

Installation of rock over the poly layer of material.
The next step will be to begin laying the actual
Sprint Turf surface. |

Construction of the shot put area is beginning with
the forms be placed in the foreground. Laying rock

August 18, 2003
The turf is being laid over the crushed rock. Workers
place and glue the seems. Red rock will be placed
in the shotput area just behind the scoreboard in
the image at the left. |

August 22, 2003
Workers are beginning to put the finishing touches on
the field. The red rock has been placed in the shot put
areas. Turf is still to be placed around these regions.
Numbers for yard markers have been placed intothe turf. |

Workers prepare to place the rubber in the turf. The fist
step is to brush the turf as shown at the right.. |

Workers spread crumb rubber on the field and brush it

The Lincoln High School football team scrimmages on the
field for the first time. |

October 1, 2003
The track pole vault and long jump pits are being moved
to the south end of Beechner Field as a part of the reconstruction.
The result will be a field which can also be used for
soccer games. |

Construction of these projects is not using any tax dollars.
All funds used are from rental fees paid for the use of LPS
buildings and fields. More pictures will be added as the construction
continues. |
