was founded in 1871 and is the oldest of the six public high schools in the city of Lincoln, Nebraska. It is also one of the oldest high schools in Nebraska.

The present building (north or front
entrance shown) was opened in 1915 with major
additions completed in 1927, 1957, 1985 and 1996. During
the past 131 years
of service to the community, over 40,000
students have graduated from LHS.
