BATCH RENAMING,
CHANGING THE RESOLUTION OF YOUR IMAGES,
AND PREPARING THEM FOR PLACEMENT
ON YOUR WEB PAGE:
**YOU MUST BATCH RENAME ALL OF YOUR PHOTOS AND INCLUDE FILE INFO
FOR ALL OF YOUR PHOTOS BEFORE YOU UPLOAD THEM TO THE SERVER.
FAILURE TO DO SO WILL RESULT IN A LOSS OF POINTS FOR YOUR ASSIGNMENT.
1. BATCH RENAMING FILES:
Open Photoshop Elements.
Go to File – Browse
Navigate to the folder that has your images. 
Select All (Apple+A, or More [in the upper right corner of the Browse window] and choose -Select All)
Go to More again and select Batch Rename.
A window will appear that looks like this:

Be sure Rename in Same Folder is selected.
In File Naming type the Activity Abbreviation, the Assignment Abbreviation,
the Period, and your First Name:
Example: P2Crop.Kevin
In the second window select + 3 Digit Serial Number
Click OK
All of your images are now renamed and numbered.
Example: P2Crop.Kevin.001.jpg, P2Crop.Kevin.002.jpg, etc.
2. FILE INFO:
Be sure you have included the File Info information to all of your photos BEFORE you copy them up to the server.
Go to File - File Info. Include your name in the Author field, and a caption with all of the 5W information (Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How) in the Caption field IN THE CORRECT STYLE. THIS MUST BE DONE FOR ALL PHOTOS YOU TAKE. You may copy and paste the caption information if you have several photos with the same description. If the caption is long or it takes you a long time to type it, you should type it in a Word document first and then copy and paste it. If you take too long, the box will close, and the caption that you typed will not be saved.

3. FORMATTING YOUR IMAGE:
Be sure to Crop your image first, BEFORE you change the resolution. This will ensure that your image is as large as possible on the page, and it will ensure that your images is of the best quality.
Before an image can be placed on your website, it needs to be resized. Follow the steps below to prepare your images.
Deselect the images in the Browse window by clicking off to the side of the images inside the window.
Be sure the dark black lines around the photos disappear. Then double click on an image that you want to
work with. It will open full size in a new window.
(You can also drag the image you want to use from your Folder into the Photoshop Elements Icon
in the Dock.)
Go to Image - Resize - Image Size

A box will appear that will look like this:

Be sure Constrain Proportions and Resample Image are both selected.
The Resolution should be 72 pixels per inch,
The dimensions in the Document Size field will be something like
31 inches by 23 inches. Change them to:
Width = 8 inches.
Height = 5.964 inches. (automatically)
(Be sure to change the dimensions in the Document Size field, no the Pixel Dimensions at the top.)

Click Okay.
5. SAVING YOUR IMAGE:
Go to File - Save As (Don't say Save or it will save over your original image.)
Save to YOUR Images Folder in YOUR WEBSITE Folder
Be sure the File Name contains the Period, the Name of the Event, Your First Name
and the extension .jpg with no extra characters or spaces.
Example: P2Crop1.Kevin.JPG
Click Save
A JPEG Options box will apper. Make sure it says: Maximum & Baseline Standard
Click OK

Your image is now ready to place on your web page.
5. PLACING YOUR IMAGES ON YOUR WEB PAGE:
Open your Assignment Page (Stranger.html or Cropping.html) in Dreamweaver MX.
Go to Insert – Image.
Navigate to YOUR Images Folder in YOUR Website Folder.
Click on the image you just saved at 72 dpi and labeled (FileName).jpg.
Click Choose.
The image will appear on your page.
6. LINKING TO PAGES:
Open your Index Page in your Websites Folder.
Select the Assignment title with the Text Tool.
Example: "Cropping"
Go to the Modify menu and select Make Link.
Navigate to your Pages Folder, and double click on the appropriate page you want to link to. Example: "Cropping.html"
To check the link, hold down the Apple Key and double click on the link. It should open a new window with the linked page in it.
Repeat the steps above to make new pages, place new photos, and make new links.
