Downloading Images from a Digital Camera
onto your assigned computer:
Be sure you have a 2006.1Photos.(your name) Folder on your deskstop.
Plug the Camera into your computer using the cord provided.
There should be one cord for every two computers, so you will have to share with the person next to you.
Turn the dial on top of the camera to the Green Arrow (Play).
An icon will appear on the desktop called, “Untitled”/“Unlabeled”
Open the 2006.1 Photos Folder on the desktop.
Go to the File Menu and select New Folder
Title the folder with the Period, the Assignment Abbreviation, the Date, and your initials.
Ex; P4.STR.9.25.06.GLK
Open the Untitled disk on the desktop. Your photos are inside.
Open the folder entitled DCIM.
Open the Folder entitled 100OLYM
Your photos will be listed there.
Go to Edit and Select All be sure all of
the photos are highlighted.
Click on the selected photos (be sure to click on the icon in the list rather than the file name or it will deselect the images) and Drag them to the New Folder
you made on your computer.
A Dialogue Box will appear indicating that the photos are
copying.
When the dialogue box disappears, copying is complete.
Open your newly named folder to be sure the images copied
there.
Drag the Images from the Untitled disk to the Trash.
***Go to the Finder and select Empty Trash***
Failing to Empty the Trash will result in a loss of points from your assignment. Be sure you empty the trash BEFORE you disconnect the camera.
A Dialogue box will appear that will ask you if you really want to delete
the images. Click OK
****CLICK ON THE EJECT BUTTON TO THE RIGHT OF THE DISK ICON
IN THE FINDER WINDOW TO DISCONNECT THE CAMERA****
REMEMBER TO DISCONNECT THE CAMERA FROM THE COMPUTER
BEFORE YOU UNPLUG IT.
FAILURE TO DO SO MAY DAMAGE YOUR PHOTOS.
Turn the camera OFF.
Disconnect the Cord from the camera.
Put the camera back in the drawer IN ITS CORRECT SPOT in the filing cabinet, and
have Mr. Keller or Mr. Maly sign your camera back in.
