Student Portrait Evaluation Page

1. Go to File and select New Window from the menu. Navigate to the Photojournalism Student Page for your class.
2. Click on the link to the web page of the person above your name on the list.
3. Click on their Student Portrait link.
4. Keep that page and this page open at the same time.
5. Evaluate their assignment based on the following criteria and enter a number score in each box below.
6. After you have entered a number in each box, add them up and enter the Total in the box at the bottom.
7. You may also write comments in the comment box at the bottom of the table.
8. When you have finished, click the Submit button below.
9. Then click on the Back button to get to the class list page again.
10. Click on the link to the web page of the person who appears below your name and follow the same instructions as above.
11. Continue to evaluate the photos from the rest of the people in the class.
12. Lastly, click on your own web page and evaluate your own assignment.
13. You will be graded on how well you follow these instructions and how accurately you evaluate the assignments.

Subject: The subject is posed naturally and with an interesting/appropriate background free of distractions. Subject is either full-frame (head to toe) or cropped effectively. No hands/feet cut off, etc.

Focus: Image is Clear, Sharp, and Not Blurry.

Caption/Cutline: (All or nothing.) Subject's name and grade. Can say "poses for a photo." Two sentences.

Correctness of Exposure: Balance Exposure. Light, Dark, Mid-tones all present. Good Contrast. Not Grainy.

Composition: Subject Not Centered. Rule of Thirds. Interesting Perspective.

Newsworthy: Is the photo Journalistically Usable? For example with a Feature story about the person in the newspaper.
