The future belongs to those who think creatively and the Visual Art Curriculum develops innovative thinking more directly than most other curriculum areas. At Lincoln High, we encourage exploration and immersion into the visual arts of your preference. We have strong, hands-on programs in drawing, design, photography, painting and pottery. And offer opportunities for Advanced Placement coursework in Drawing, 2D Design and 3D Design. Students get to discover their personal voice and technical skills in the visual arts.
The role of the Lincoln, Nebraska Public Schools’ Visual Art Department is to provide instruction in the art disciplines of aesthetics production, criticism, and history. This program provides students with the visual literacy component of a comprehensive education.
Through art education, students learn to develop visual perception, problem solving skills and an appreciation and understanding of our diverse aesthetic heritage. It is part of our purpose to communicate to students and to the community, the significance of the Visual Arts as a most important form of communication on the human condition.
